The Island of the Currents is a small rounded island of Sicily, on the Ionian coast, located in the territory of the municipality of Portopalo, extended for about 10000 m² with a maximum height of 4 m above sea level. The Isola delle Correnti is a small rounded island, connected to Portopalo by a fine stone tongue, enchants for its wild and unspoiled beauty.
Due to its position, the island of currents represents a sort of ideal border between the Ionian and the Mediterranean Sea. The currents generated by the meeting of these two seas give rise to ripples and colors in constant evolution … hence the name “Isola delle Correnti”.
