The ancient inhabited center of Noto, known as Noto Antica or capital of the Baroque, was a center of considerable importance. A medieval structure where you can still admire monuments of great historical importance, such as the Hermitage of Santa Maria della Provvidenza, the Castle Royal built in 1091 and enlarged by Duke Pietro D’Aragona in 1430 and features of the imposing city walls that fortified the urban center.
