The Cavagrande del Cassibile nature reserve is a protected natural area located in the municipalities of Avola, Noto and Siracusa, in the province of Syracuse, a breathtaking scenery offered by the spectacular natural gorge carved by the river Cassibile, without a shadow of doubt one of the few unspoiled wonders that Sicily still preserves.
One of the largest engravings is precisely the Cava Grande formed by the Cassibile river, where over the millennia, in addition to numerous plant and animal species, various civilizations have also found refuge since the Neolithic period and have left numerous important testimonials.
